ಬೆಳ್ಳೂಟಿಯ ಕರಗದಕುಂಟೆಯ ಹೂಳೆತ್ತುವ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗೆ ಚಾಲನೆ

Belluti, Sidlaghatta : ಶಿಡ್ಲಘಟ್ಟ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಬೆಳ್ಳೂಟಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಪುರಾತನ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಕರಗದಕುಂಟೆಯ ಹೂಳೆತ್ತುವ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿ ಆನೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಬೆಳ್ಳೂಟಿ ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

ನಾವುಗಳು ನೀರು ಎಷ್ಠೇ ಪಾತಾಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರೂ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ನೀರು ತೆಗೆದು ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು ಎನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳೇ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಆಧಾರ. ಒಂದುಕಡೆ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷೆದಿಂದ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಬಲಾಡ್ಯರು ಒತ್ತುವರಿ ಮಾಡಿ ನಾಶಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ಕೃಷಿ ಜಮೀನುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಫಲವತ್ತತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಫ್.ಇ.ಎಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಿಂದ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳು ತೆಗೆದು, ಮಣ್ಣನ್ನು ರೈತರ ಜಮೀನಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಿ, ಅಂತರ್ಜಲ ಪುನರುಜ್ಜೀವಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ತುಂಬಾ ಅನುಕೂಲಕರ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಳ್ಳೂಟಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಪುರಾತನ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಕರಗದಕುಂಟೆಯು ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರ ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಲವಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಸೇರಿ ಕಲಶ/ಕರಗವನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಕರಗದಕುಂಟೆಯ ಜಾತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಕುಂಟೆಗೆ ಕರಗದಕುಂಟೆ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರು ಬಂತು. ಈ ಜಾತ್ರೆಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕರಗದಕುಂಟೆಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವುದು ರೂಢಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಪರಿಸರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ಸಮಿತಿ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಒತ್ತುವರಿಯಾದ ಜಾಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಲು ತಿರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿ ರೈತರ ಮನವೊಲಿಸಿ ಒತ್ತುವರಿ ಜಾಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಎಫ್ಇಎಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀರಂಗ ಹೆಗೆಡೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಈ ಭಾಗದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳೇ ಜೀವನಾಡಿಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃಷಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಫಲಾವತ್ತತೆ ಕೂಡ ನಾಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎಫ್ಇಎಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ, ಎಚ್ಡಿಎಫ್ಸಿ ನೆರೆವಿನ ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಕೃತ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣಾಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ಯೋಜನೆಯಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳು ತೆಗೆದು ರೈತರ ಕೃಷಿ ಜಮೀನುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಿ, ಕೆರೆ ಕಟ್ಟೆಗಳ ಬಲವರ್ಧನೆ, ಕೋಡಿ ದುರಸ್ಥಿ, ತೂಬು ರೀಪೇರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಹೂಳು ಸೇರದಂತೆ ತಡೆಯಲು ಕೆರೆಯ ಜಲಾನಯನ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ತಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ಭಾಗದ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಾ ದಿನಗಳಿದ ಹೂಳು ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಮಳೆಯಾದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಶೇಖರಣೆಯಾಗಲು ತೊಂದರೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಫಲವತ್ತತೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾಗದ ಕೃಷಿ ಜಮೀನುಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಹೂಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕುವುದರಿಂದ ಕೃಷಿ ಜಮೀನಿನ ಫಲವತ್ತತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಹೂಳುನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯುವ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ನೀರು ಶೇಖರಣೆಯಾಗಿ, ಕೃಷಿ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳ ಅನುಕೂಲದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ನೀರು ದೊರೆಕಿಸುವಂತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದರಿಂದ ಅಂತರ್ಜಲ ಮರುಪೂರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುವುದಲ್ಲದೇ ಜಲ ಮೂಲಗಳನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ಸಹಕಾರಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ಇಓ ಮುನಿರಾಜ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಸಮುದಾಯವನ್ನು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕವಾಗಿ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸಲು ಎಫ್ಇಎಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು ಸಹಾಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆರೆ ಕುಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳು ತೆಗಿಸಿ ರೈತರ ಕೃಷಿ ಜಮೀನುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಮಹತ್ತರ ಕಾರ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಆನೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷೆ ನೇತ್ರಾವತಿ, ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ಸದಸ್ಯೆ ಪ್ರೇಮ, ಎಫ್ಇಎಸ್ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ತಂಡದ ಭಕ್ತರ್ ವಲಿ, ಅಭಿಯಂತರರಾದ ಉತ್ತಣ್ಣ, ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವೈ ನರಸಿಂಹಪ್ಪ, ಎನ್ ರಮೇಶ್, ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪರಿಸರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಸಮಿತಿ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾದ ದೇವರಾಜು, ಆಶಾ, ಚಂದ್ರಪ್ಪ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಾದ ಮುನಿರಾಜು,ಶ್ವೇತಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಗಾಯತ್ರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದರು.

Reviving Ancient Lake Rakes: The Key to Conserving Wildlife and Agricultural Lands

During the inauguration of the dredging work of Karagada Kunte, one of the ancient lake rakes in Belluti village, Shidlaghatta taluk, Anur Gram Panchayat member Belluti Santhosh emphasized the importance of lake rakes for the survival of animals and birds.

He mentioned how technology has made it possible to extract water even from deep sources, but the lake rakes remain the primary source of water for wildlife. Unfortunately, due to the neglect of the community and the government, many lake rakes have been encroached and destroyed by the powerful, leading to a decline in the fertility of agricultural lands and turning them into deserts.

To address this issue, the FES organization, under the leadership of the community, has undertaken the task of removing silt from traditional lake rakes and using it to revive the groundwater and improve the fertility of farmers’ land.

Karagadakunte, one of the ancient lakes in Belluti village, is an essential symbol of the unity of the villagers. The villagers used to carry the kalash/karaga on their heads and perform the Karagadakunte fair, using water from this lake. However, it had been encroached upon for several years until the Environmental Development Committee persuaded the farmers to clear the encroached land.

According to Sriranga Hegede, the Head of FES organization, lake rakes are the main source of livelihood for the people of the region, and their fertility has been severely impacted. Therefore, under the centralized rural development project of FES organization and HDFC, locals are removing silt from the traditional lake rakes, strengthening the lake embankments, repairing dams, building stone barriers to prevent silt from entering the lakes again, and putting the silt on farmers’ land.

Most of the lake rakes in the region have been filled with silt for many years, making it difficult to store water, even during good rains. However, by applying the silt to agricultural lands, farmers will benefit from increased fertility, while livestock and animals will have access to drinking water, leading to groundwater recharge and conservation of water sources.

Taluk Panchayat EO Muniraja emphasized the significance of involving the community in the project, and how the FES organization is helping to prepare the project scientifically.
